Parrillo, MD Dr. Parrillo is a Professor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; Head, Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine; Director, Cooper Heart Institute; and Director, Cardiovascular and Critical Care Services at Cooper Health System in Camden, New Jersey. Dr. Parrillo is board-certified in internal medicine, allergy and immunology, cardiovascular disease and critical care medicine. He has authored or co-authored more than 900 manuscripts, chapters, reviews, editorials, books and abstracts. A past president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), Dr. Parrillo is presently Editor-in-Chief of Critical Care Medicine, the premier journal devoted to the discipline of critical care. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Critical Care Medicine, and a member of the Association of American Physicians and the American Society of Clinical Investigation. In 2005, Dr. Parrillo was the recipient of the American College of Critical Care Medicine's Distinguished Investigator Award, which represents the college's highest recognition for "scientific and educational contributions … [that] demonstrate career commitment and excellence." His major interests have been cardiac function in sepsis, cardiovascular performance in shock, pathogenesis and treatment of severe dilated cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, and the critically-ill cardiovascular patient. ![]() |
