ART 123 Program Advisory Board

Artisan has recruited a team of some of the most renowned experts in sepsis, critical care and hematology specifically to help guide the development and commercialization of ART 123.

Mark Crowther, MD

Dr. Crowther received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1990. Subsequently, he undertook internal medicine training at the University of Western Ontario, followed by hematology training at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

From 1995-1999, Dr. Crowther undertook a focused research fellowship in thromboembolism under the direction of Drs. Ginsberg, Weitz and Hirsh. He joined the faculty at McMaster University in 1999 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine working at St. Joseph's Hospital. Currently, he is Chair of the Division of Hematology and a Professor in the Department of Medicine. He is also the Head of Service (Hematology) at St. Joseph's Hospital and Senior Clinical Research Advisor for the Father Sean O'Sullivan Research Center at St. Joseph's Healthcare.

Dr. Crowther's clinical activities focus on the care of patients with thromboembolic disorders and other benign hematologic conditions. His research endeavors include a wide variety of projects examining the optimal methods to prevent and treat both arterial and venous thrombosis.

As of January 2006, Dr. Crowther had presented more than 200 invited talks, published more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and authored chapters in many leading hematology texts. He has recently been asked to serve as Senior Editor of a new text entitled Evidence Based Hematology and holds a Career Investigator award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
